The Ministry of Labor of Trinidad and Tobago received technical assistance from the Canadian Labour Program, Employment and Social Development Canada, to learn about Canada's experience in its Harassment and Violence Prevention initiative in addressing and preventing harassment and violence in the workplace, with a view to developing robust structures at the national level to address this issue.
Objective:
To be apprised of the components of Canada’s Harassment and Violence Prevention initiative, in order to apply best practices to the implementation of Trinidad and Tobago’s National Workplace Policy on Sexual Harassment.
Cooperation sessions:
1st session - September 13th, 2021
2nd session - November 5th, 2021
3rd session - April 27, 2022
During the exchange, the Ministry of Labour of Trinidad and Tobago received first-hand information on various of Canada's practices within the Harassment and Violence Prevention Initiative, such as the independent roaster of investigators to follow up on cases, the harassment and violence hotline, among others.
As a result of the cooperation, the Ministry of Labour of Trinidad and Tobago prepared a Final Report detailing the next steps to implement the learnings from the Cooperation in their own national reality.
