A delegation from Jamaica’s Ministry of Labor travelled to Bogota to learn about Colombia’s Ministry of Labor’s capacities to collect, analyze, and save information about the labor market and how to use this information to develop public policies. With this visit, Jamaica wanted to strengthen its technical and intelligence capacities in analyzing their labor market with the goal of implementing data-driven and efficient public policies.
In terms of concrete results and lessons learned, Jamaica highlighted the need to search for more inter-ministerial collaboration and collaboration with other entities such as the Jamaican Statistics Institute, the Jamaican Tax Administration, and the General Registry Department. They also expressed the need to implement a national policy to facilitate the access to data bases of different organizations that must be coordinated by specialized agents.
