The Bilateral Cooperation Activity between the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MTPS) of Guatemala and the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security of Argentina (MTEySS) on the training of inspectors to identify signs of labor exploitation was selected within the framework of the 15th. Call of the OAS Inter-American Network for Labor Administration (RIAL) in March 2022, to be carried out virtually.
 
The RIAL, coordinated by the OAS, seeks to strengthen the human and institutional capacities of the Ministries of Labor of the Americas through cooperation and technical assistance between them. More information at www.rialnet.org.
 
OBJECTIVES AND PRODUCT
 
General objective:
Strengthen the capacities of the General Labor Inspection in the identification of signs of labor exploitation, through the exchange of experiences and the tools used to detect cases of trafficking in its modality of labor exploitation, specifically in the worse forms of child labor.

 
Specific objectives:

  • Provide specialized training in the identification of cases of human trafficking in its form of labor exploitation, specifically child labor in its worst forms, for labor inspectors.
  • Strengthening of the inspection work with the use of the appropriate tools.

 
Product: At the end of the cooperation, the MTPS expects to have a strengthened Labor Inspection Action Plan with components that improve its inspector training systems to identify cases of labor exploitation, including child labor.
