Luisa María Alcalde took office as head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (STPS) of Mexico on December 1st, 2018, after being appointed by President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Ms. Alcalde holds a law deegree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and has a master's degree in public policy from the University of Berkeley, California.
From 2012 to 2015 she served as federal deputee, where she was president of the Comission of Labor and Social Security. From this position, she impulsed several laws to ease the process to increase minimum wage.
