An delegation of experts from Chile traveled to Lima Peru to train and share their experience with their National Service for Training and Labor (SENCE), with the goal of improving the services of the Heads of the SENCE. Directors and officers from Peru’s Ministry of Labor learned about Chile’s active and passive market policies, including unemployed benefits, and about the importance of having operational models and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for the SENCE. Both of these instruments had not been developed at the time of the visit.
In terms of concrete results, Peru improved its Virtual Jobmarket platform that allows users and companies to sign up directly to the service without the need of going to a labor office to see and publish vacancies. Employers and jobseekers can interact without an intermediary, allowing for jobseekers to upload their resumes to the website and for companies to access the portal and can contact jobseekers with the necessary qualifications free of charge and spending minimal time.
