The Bilateral Cooperation Activity between the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MTPS) of Guatemala and the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) of Mexico on a virtual learning platform for adolescents was selected within the framework of the 18th Call for Proposals of the OAS Inter-American Network for Labor Administration (RIAL) in April 2025, to be held virtually.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

General Objective: To develop a virtual learning platform for adolescents in Guatemala who apply for proof of minimum age for admission to employment, in order to provide them with the necessary knowledge about their labor rights and responsibilities.

 

Specific Objectives:

 

  • To develop a virtual learning platform for adolescents applying for proof of minimum age for admission to employment, targeting the adolescent population in Guatemala. The platform will be accessible, user-friendly, and culturally relevant, and can be used on various mobile devices.
  • Issue a validation document for adolescents who have completed the learning modules on the virtual platform, as a prerequisite for the final assessment to obtain proof of minimum age for employment.
  • Inform Guatemalan adolescents entering the workforce about current regulations regarding their labor rights, obligations, and responsibilities through an accessible and user-friendly virtual platform.
  • Design a virtual learning platform for adolescents applying for proof of minimum age for employment, available in the main Mayan languages ​​(Kaqchiquel, Q'eqchi', K'iche') and Spanish, with the aim of guaranteeing access nationwide.
