Peru - Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion
Mr. Barrera holds a degree in sociology from the University Pontificia Católica del Peru and a Master's degree in Project Management and Social Programs from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. He has served as a professor at the National University Federico Villarreal and the University of San Martin de Porres, as well as Director of the University Press of the National University Federico Villarreal, and member of the Advisory Council of the Political Analysis and Prospective Scenarios Project PAPEP / UNDP.
Javier Barrera has held the positions of President of the National Fund for Labor Training and Employment Promotion (FONDOEMPLEO), member of the National Council of the National Service of Industrial Training (SENATI), and member of the Board of Directors of the National Program of Direct Support to the Poorest (Juntos).
He was also Vice Minister of Employment Promotion and Labor Training of the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion, and Vice Minister of Social Development of the Ministry for Women and Social Development. He was appointed Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion on January 9, 2018.
