Description:

Place and date: Guatemala City – November 26 to 30, 2012
A delegation from the Ministry of Justice and Labor of Paraguay visited the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare of Guatemala to participate in a cooperation activity in the field of support for domestic workers. The Paraguayan delegation considered the creation of the Budget Classifier with a Gender Perspective (CPEG) extremely important; it has been in use since 2003 in the operational planning process and in the development of the institutional budget and General Budget.

Steps to follow include: conducting a day of reflection between the head of the Department of Mediation, Training and Employment Surveying (DIOPE) and its staff; regain momentum for the bill to regulate the operation of paid private employment services, and the ability to create awareness about the need to have a clear and comprehensive employment policy.

Among other claims, the Paraguayan delegation said: “We note with absolute firmness that the experiences shared in Guatemala City through this cooperative undertaking provided by the RIAL encouraged us to continue to invest in cooperation and technical support, and are irreplaceable as mechanisms for underpinning and strengthening the human and institutional capabilities of our system of labor administration.”
