Description:

With the objective of becoming familiar with the Trade Union Registration System of Brazil and the IT systems of the Registry of Trade Union Associations, a delegate from the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) of Mexico visited the offices of the Ministry of Labor and Employment of Brazil in Sao Paulo.

During the visit, delegates from both ministries had the opportunity to present their respective registration systems and were able to visit entities such as the National Confederation of Commerce and Goods, Services, and Tourism, the Central Única de Trabajadores, the Central General de Trabajadores de Brasil, and the Regional Superintendency of Labor and Employment, where the were able to witness labor mediation cases. Among important steps to take, the STPS highlighted the following actions: the establishment of an informational trade union registration system, with an online status for labor proceedings, and the updating of the Trade Union Management System.

In general terms, the initial objective of this activity was achieved in that it allowed the STPS of Mexico to get a comparative panorama between both entities in order to identify target areas for continuous improvement that will benefit trade union organizations and employers.
