Description:

Although the emphasis of this cooperation was on gender equality, the Bolivian officials learned about a range of programs carried out by the Chilean Government to incorporate various population groups into the labor market and to ensure conditions of equality and nondiscrimination. During the visit, the three officials met with officers of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MTPS), the Ministry of Planning (MIDEPLAN), the National Women’s Service (SERNAM), the National Civil Service Directorate, and the Training and Employment Service (SENCE), and they received detailed information on the employment policies and programs for women pursued by the MTPS, the policies of the SERNAM, inter-ministerial coordination mechanisms, the Code of Good Practice for nondiscrimination in the public sector, and the welfare reform, which is considered to be a successful experience with gender mainstreaming.
