Labor Market Information System

For 5 days, the delegations of St. Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, and Botswana travelled to Jamaica to participate in cooperation about Labor Market Information Systems (LMIS). The cooperation was planned through the RIAL with the purpose of strengthening and developing St. Lucia’s Ministry of Labor’s information systems capacities; the delegations of Antigua & Barbuda and Botswana joined later.
 
As a result of this cooperation, St. Lucia has adopted the Jamaican experience to promote their own information systems through: television, radio, job fairs or technical seminars. They also acquired the knowledge to evaluate their current LMIS capacities and identified areas that need improvement. One of the results that the delegation of St. Lucia highlighted was an increased consciousness about the importance of keeping a constant dialogue for the implementation and usage of an LMIS between governmental agencies, private sector, and trade unions.
