This activity was selected in March 2008, however, due to certain institutional modifications its planning was delayed and a partial adjustment of its contents were suggested. During three days of work, three officers from the Secretary of Labor (SET) of Dominican Republic received from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) of Costa Rica valuable information regarding employment statistics, strategic planning, labor migration, intermediation system, labor market statistics and internal management statistics.
This visit included presentations on different subjects, and in the Final Report presented by Dominican Republic, it’s not possible to identify the next steps that the SET will take based on the lessons learnt from the experience of Costa Rica. This on-site visit confirms that in order to achieve an impact, such cooperation activities must define with clearness a unique subject of emphasis that should be developed in depth.
